Reviewing a game in Régence: move classification, accuracy, evaluation graph

Régence 0.9 — reviewing a game

No subscription No account, no credit card 30-day money-back guarantee Your games never leave your Mac

Every loss has an explanation. Here it is.

You just lost. You vaguely know where it slipped away — without knowing why. Régence replays the game move by move, with the world champions’ engine, on your Mac: every move is graded, both players’ accuracy is measured, and the evaluation graph shows where it was all decided. The game review you know — without the cap.

Yours, forever.

Régence runs entirely on your Mac. No server, no queue, no counter.

Unlimited

Analyze 3 games or 300. Nobody counts, nothing expires.

Private

Your games, your analyses, your statistics: nothing ever leaves your Mac. No account required.

Offline

On the train, at a tournament, on holiday: Régence doesn’t need the Internet.

Your Mac stays silent

Quiet mode, on by default, analyzes without spinning up the fans. In a hurry? Performance mode runs twice as fast.

The engine runs on your machine — your games and analyses are never sent to a server.

Native on Apple Silicon and Intel. Paid once. Yours.

All your games, finally in one place.

Playing on Lichess in the evening and chess.com on weekends? Régence imports the complete archive of both accounts in one click — clocks included. Then files them in a real game manager, on your disk: folders, smart folders, tags, search, saved views. Ten years of games, found in two seconds.

Régence library: 102 games imported from chess.com, per-game accuracy, batch analysis queue

A repertoire drilled until it holds.

Knowing your opening isn’t enough — it has to hold under pressure. Régence imports your Lichess studies (public or private) and your PGN files, and gives you a real variation-tree editor, with comments.

Ghost mode in Régence: ghost pieces projecting the theory book’s continuation on the board

Your weaknesses finally have a name.

One analyzed game is a lesson. A hundred analyzed games are a diagnosis. Régence’s dashboard crosses all your analyses: average accuracy, strengths and weaknesses by opening, traps you keep falling into, activity calendar. You no longer study at random — you study what actually costs you games.

Régence dashboard: strengths and weaknesses by opening, move distribution, activity

Coaching a young player?

Every move gets a clear label (Book, Mistake, Blunder…), every game’s report exports to PDF for the evening debrief, and the data stays on your Mac — your child’s too.

Walnut marquetry chessboard — a Régence theme

A fine chess object, not just another app.

Photographic marquetry — walnut, oak, marble, slate. More than twenty-five piece styles. A dark mode made for evening study sessions. Sounds that feel right.

“Régence is built in France by an independent developer — me. A question, a problem, an idea? Write to me, I answer.”

30-day guarantee: full refund, no questions asked, with a single email.

Online purchase opens within days — the free trial doesn’t wait.

For reference: unlimited Game Review on chess.com requires the Diamond subscription — about €110/year, every year, forever — and just 1 analysis per day for free. Régence costs less than 5 months of Diamond, once.

Honest questions, honest answers.

Is there a hidden subscription somewhere?

No. €49, once. No subscription, no in-app purchase, no “pro” tier that unlocks the real app. Updates are included.

Lichess is free. Why pay?

Lichess is excellent — Régence starts where it stops: rich classification of every move (ten categories, not three), unlimited local analyses, a real game manager that gathers all your games (chess.com included), studies, repertoire and drilling. And your Lichess games import in one click.

What level is it for?

Régence is built for online players roughly between 800 and 2200 elo. If you lose games without understanding why, it’s for you. Every move gets a clear label — no engine knowledge required.

Are my games private?

Yes, structurally: engine analysis runs on your Mac, with no account and no server. Your games, analyses and statistics never leave your machine. Two limited, obvious exceptions: importing your games from Lichess/chess.com, and theory lookups (opening explorer, endgame tablebases) which query public databases position by position — never your games.

Which Macs are supported? What about Windows?

macOS 14 Sonoma or later, Apple Silicon and Intel. No Windows or iOS version — Régence is a native Mac app, by design.

What happens when the trial ends?

Nothing disappears: your games, analyses and folders stay on your Mac. The app simply waits for your license to resume analyses.

How many machines does the license cover?

2 Macs — say, the desktop and the laptop. Moving to a new machine takes two clicks.

Are updates paid?

No. They arrive automatically and are included in the €49. The changelog is public.

What if Régence isn’t for me?

Free 7-day trial first — no card. And after purchase, a 30-day guarantee: one email, full refund, no questions asked.

Your next loss can be your best lesson.
