Studies & repertoire

A study is an annotated tree of moves — typically an opening repertoire: your main line, the opponent’s replies, your prepared continuations. Régence makes it a complete workspace: you build your lines there, read them like a book, and above all drill them until they hold in real games.

The studies hub opens from the welcome window (My studies) or the library sidebar: folders and subfolders, search, a preview of each study with its characteristic position, its training statistics and the color it trains. A folder is more than storage: it can be trained as one block and projected whole in Preview — the complete repertoire, in one gesture.

That preview is a real board, not a picture: your piece set and your board theme, marquetry included. The arrows under the board walk the main line half-move by half-move — each move highlighted on its origin and destination squares, its label shown (“3.Nc3”), with two buttons to jump to the start or the end.
